Buried together in the family plot are: Clara Ophelia & Jesse Dodson, Henry Clay Griffin (grandson to Dodsons) & wife Dovie Griffin, Victoria & James Alexander Johnston, Carl P. Johnston (Victoria's son & son-in-law to the Dodsons), Ruth Johnston (Carl's daughter and granddaughter to the Dodsons & Victoria Johnston). Printed in The Davis News on Dec. 4, 1913; Reprinted with permission Death of Mrs. J. M. Dodson Mrs. Clara Ophelia Dodson, wife of Rev. J. M. Dodson, died at the family residence in Davis Saturday night at 11:40 o'clock after an extended illness. She had been in bad health four or five years but her condition seemed not serious till recently. While she had a complication of diseases, the immediate cause of her death is stated to have been dropsy. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday at 11 o'clock, same being attended by a large crowd of friends and neighbors. Services were conducted by Rev. A. W. Richardson, assisted by Revs. R. W. Oakes and Willie Ferguson. Interment was made in Green Hill cemetery. Mrs. Dodson, nee Tippit, was born in Louisiana Dec. 17, 1857. In 1876 she was married to Mr. Dodson, unto whom twelve children were born. Three sons are dead and three sons and six daughters survive, namely: Mrs. Ira Ludwick of Temple, Tex.; Mrs. Ella Johnson of Chigley; Mrs. Leona Ridgeway of Cordell, Okla.; Mrs. Lena Griffen, Mrs. Ida Walls, Miss Woodie Dodson, Garland Dodson of Davis; Floyd M. Dodson of Sulphur and Will Dodson of Sherman. Mrs. Dodson had been a member of the Baptist church since childhood, and lived a life consecrated to the Master's cause. She lived in Davis many years and had a large circle of friends who are grieved at her death. She was a noble mother and true friend, and will be greatly missed by friends as well as relatives. To the bereaved ones the sympathy of the community is extended.
