Obituary published 19 Sep 2009 in "The Paris News", Paris, TX: Velva Ruth Vaughan, 78, of Blossom died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at her home. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the East Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Henry Blackmon officiating. Burial follows in the East Post Oak Cemetery. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. There will be no formal visitation hour observed. She was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Norman, Okla., to James Marlin and Vivian Katherine Oakley Millsap. She was a homemaker and volunteered for several charitable organizations. She was a member of the East Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a husband, J.C. Vaughan; and her parents. She is survived by four children, Rhonda Vaughan Rawlins and husband, Eric, of Tyler, John Allen Vaughan and wife, Debbie, of Blossom, Freita Eichinger and husband, Paul, of Blossom and Renee Vaughan Murray of Bedford; seven grandchildren, John Charlie Vaughan, Wesley Allen Elsberry, Jason Heath Murray, Lauren Nicole Barton, Jared Wayne Vaughan, Royce Chance Rawlins and Rachael Ann Eichinger; one brother, David Newton Crouch; seven sisters, Belva Jean Lefler, Gayzelle Brown, Adelle Dickson, Corrine Guilbeau, Wilma Dean Guilbeau Norman, Evelyn Simon and Janet Brown; and her former husband and caregiver, Ray Douglas. Pallbearers will be John Charlie Vaughan, Wesley Allen Elsberry, Jared Wayne Vaughan, Jason Heath Murray, Royce Chance Rawlins and Matt Benefield. Honorary pallbearer will be Leslie Spears.
