Bio
Mrs. Lee was born March 6, 1915 in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of Ollie L. and Mattie Veazey Young. She attended Mt. Vernon schools, then moved with her family to Paris, where she completed her education. She was a longtime employee in the shipping department of Campbells Soup where she was a secretary, retiring in 1982. For many years she was very active in the Rebekah Lodge. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and no one enjoyed having company more than she did. Novie married Billy Benford Lee on October 12, 1951 in Texarkana. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1972. She is survived by a grandson, Billy Lee and wife Lorie, of Reno; two great-grandsons, Dylan Lee and Dalson Lee, both of Reno; a daughter-in-law, Donna Lee, of Reno; five nephews, Jerry Thompson, Darwin Young, Rodney Young, Wayne Young and Buddy Young. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Fred Lee, on September 22, 2008; by three brothers, Truman Young, Arvil Young and Loy Young; and by one sister, Grace Young. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Thompson, Terry Thompson, Travis Thompson, Caleb Dunagan and Ashlee Dunagan. Son Fred Young Lee, linked on this page, was an only child.
