Bio

The Lamar County Echo, March 1979. Arvel P. Young, 61, of Blossom died Tuesday March 13, 1979, in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 15, in the chapel of Gene Roden's Sons, Directors of Funerals, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Hollowell and the Rev. Terrell Taylor. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery. Mr. Young was born October 20, 1917, in Mount Vernon, son of Ollie and Mattie Veazey Young. He married Alice Baker on December 24 1938. He was a mechanic and used car dealer in Blossom. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Rodney Preston Young, Darwin Lee Young, and James Ray Young all of Blossom, and Richard Wayne Young of Paris; one brother, Truman Otis Young of Dallas; two sisters, Gay Lee and Grace Melton, both of Paris; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jimmy Vanderburg, James Schwartz, Clyde Helms, Lemin Bradford, Elvis Baughn, and Clyde Johnson.
