Ashland Gazette (Ashland, NE), Thursday, September 6, 1928; pg. 1 OBITUARY Laura Belle Lake was born in Vermillion county (sic), Indiana, Jan. 3, 1875, and at South Bend, Neb, Sept. 2, 1928, at the age of 53 years 7 months and 29 days. She was married to Willis Richards at Fullerton, Nebr. To this union were born three sons, Forest LeRoy of Meadow, Neb., Willis Jr., of Lincoln, Orval of South Bend, and James who died in infancy. Three daughters, Mrs. Eva Sweeney and Mrs. Clara Haswell of South Bend, and Mrs. Lena Randall of Parker, Kansas, survive their mother. Three sisters, Mrs. Mary Pierce of Golden, Colo., Mrs. Emma Pullen, of Crawford, Neb., and Mrs. Josie Nelson of Huston, Idaho, and one brother, Will Lake, of Ridge Farm, Ill., survive their sister. At the age of five she came with her parents to St. Edwards, Nebr., and resided in that vicinity until the death of her parents, when she was fourteen years old. She then moved to Fullerton, where she lived until she was married in 1891. All of the children and one sister, Mrs. Emma Pullen, were present the funeral. Mrs. Richards was a true, loving wife and mother, and a large place will be left vacant in her home. To know her was to love her. She was a member of the United Brethern church (sic) at St. Edward, Neb., since the age of twelve. Funeral services were held at the house at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W.N. Wallis of the Methodist church (sic) of Ashland, officiating.
