Cooper Review-Sept. 29, 1983-Mrs. Ury Sweat, age 83, passed away Monday night, September 26, at Birchwood Manor Nursing Home in Cooper. Funeral services were held at 2PM Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Klondike Baptist Church, with Rev. Guile Seigler officiating. Internment was in the New Klondike Cemetery, under the direction of Delta Funeral Home. Mrs. Sweat, a resident of Klondike, most of her life, was born in Hopkins County, July 1, 1900. She was the daughter of James A. and Alice (Robertson) Hooten. On September 11, 1924, she married DeWitt Sweat, who preceded her in death May 2, 1963. Survivors include four sons, James W. Sweat and Charles Sweat, both of Klondike, L.C. Sweat of Arlington and Woodrow Sweat of Sealy; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Toon of Cooper, Mrs.Docia Gambs of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Lois Seaborn of Ft.Worth; three grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
