This burial is in the Blue Hill CATHOLIC Cemetery. Red Cloud Chief, Thursday, Jul 20, 1911, p.8:7 Blue Hill Man Killed by Burlington Train
He was hit & killed by a train. H. O. Hegg, for fifteen years a resident of Blue Hill, was struck by train No. 169 at Blue Hill Monday Morning and died shortly afterward. Mr. Hegg was standing in the middle of the track on the Hastings Red Cloud Branch when the Holdrege train pulled out. No. 169, due in Red Cloud at 9:30, was pulling in at the same time, and it is evident that Hegg became confused. He was dragged eighteen or twenty feet, when the engine and one car passed over him. His right leg was completely severed from his body, while his left leg and abdomen were terribly crushed. Coroner Ed Amack went to Blue Hill and held an inquest in the afternoon. The jury, after hearing the evidence of the trainmen and other eyewitnesses, returned a verdict exonerating the train crew from all blame in the sad affair. Mrs. Hegg and children, who live in Lincoln, were in attendance at the funeral Wednesday.
