Bio

Jesse Arlington Sowers - born in Vinton,Ohio to Paul Sowers and Hannah Sowers (census). The family had moved to Elk River, Missouri by 1880. By the 1890s, the family had moved to La Veta, Colorado where father Paul died in 1896. Jesse married Margaret Mary McConnell in 1895. Margaret was the daughter of John Armstrong McConnell and Mary Jane Bailey. By 1900 Jesse and family are farming on the Florida River. Children Thelma, Oliver, Lee, Zula, and Stuart. In 1930 they are still there; Jesse is known as "Jack". Margaret's mother Mary came to live with them late in life. See the McConnell burials at Florida Cemetery.
