Bio

SULLIVAN – Ada L. Selby, 83, of Sullivan, died at 12:08 p.m. Friday (June 8, 2001) at her residence. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the McMullen-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Kimmundy, the daughter of Jasper Newton and Susanna Campbell Jones. She married Lloyd "Ras" Selby in 1941; he died in 1994. Surviving are three sons, George Selby and Jim Selby, both of Sullivan, and John Selby of Shelbyville; two daughters, Sue Chamberlain of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Rosemary Selby of Palo Alto, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Selby was retired from the Sullivan school district. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sullivan and the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Women's League Bowler of the Year.
