Services for John Franklin Isbell, 54, were held at Holden Funeral Home. Mr. Isbell left his home to go hunting and returned a short time later and told his wife he had been shot. The bullet entered his chest. Sheriff E.T. Waldrop of Jack County and Texas Ranger Jim Ranger of Breckenridge investigated the accident. Survived by his wife - Mrs. Opal Isbell of Bryson; four sons - Tommy Isbell, Jack Isbell, Jimmie Isbell, John Isbell, Jr; one daughter - Jessie Maud Isbell; his mother - Mrs. Emma Isbell; six brothers - Ben Isbell, Willie Isbell, Louis Isbell, Henry Isbell, Zack Isbell; one sister - Mrs. Ethel Callahan.
