Ronald Davis Strong, 88, passed away August 18, 2009 in American Fork, UT. He was born August 6, 1921 in Alpine, UT to William Frederick and Florence Thornton Strong. Ronald married Lorraine Whitby January 16, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the LDS Church as a Patriarch, a Bishop, and a Sealer. He also served as the mayor of Alpine. He shared his musical talents with everyone and his family was his greatest interest. Ronald is survived by his wife; 5 sons and 5 daughters: Merlynne (Willard) Heaps, Natalie Strong all of Alpine; Wayne Ronald (Colleen) Strong, Mesa, AZ; Brenda (Kent) Davis, Orem; Yvonne (Richard) Holdaway, Payson; Gordon Davis (Deborah) Strong, Taylorsville; Kendell Whitby (Jane) Strong, Elko, NV; Dean Whitby (Lorinda) Strong, Ojai, CA; Glen Fred (Kata) Strong, Munster, IN; Deanna (Devin) Johnson, West Point; 57 grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren; and a brother Wendell (Mary) Strong. Preceded in death by his daughter Janene, four sisters and a brother. Funeral services held Saturday August 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine Mountainville Chapel, 165 North 100 East. Friends called Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
