Death At Van Alstyne John Echols Died Suddenly of Hemorrhage of the Stomach Van Alstyne, Tex., Aug. 13 -- John Echols, a highly respected citizen of this place, died here very suddenly of hemorrhage of the stomach, this morning at 10:30. He came down town this morning and went to E. G. Beall's elevator to see J. W. Sledge. After waiting some time without see[sic] Sledge, he said he would go home and come again in the afternoon. He reached home and sent immediately for a physician, but was dying when the latter reached him. He was a single man, 33 years old and lived with his parents, but spent much of his time in Howe, where he was connected with the Howe Herald as editor. The interment will take place tomorrow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. ----- The editor of the Register ......... He had been in bad health for several years, and has often said to the writer that he expected to die suddenly with some kind of hemorrhage. His parents and several brothers are living.
