HONOLULU HAWAII ADVERTISER ARTICLE - 02/09/1957 JET PLANE MISSING WITH TWO ABOARD EVERETT, WASHINGTON - FEBRUARY 8, 1957 An F-89H jet stationed at nearby Paine Air Force Base was reported missing and presumed down early today. The jet, with a pilot and radar observer aboard, left the base last night on a routine training mission with two other planes. The pilot was identified as 2nd Lt. Robert E. Fessel, 22, Pekin, IN, and the radar observer as 2nd Lt. Joseph Timothy Dailey, 22, Boston, MA. both men were living at Alderwood Manor near their base.
