Hays -- Cora M. Gaschler, 73, Hays, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, at Hays Medical Center. Mrs. Gaschler was born Cora Dreiling on March 14, 1923, north of Hays. She was a homemaker and was a secretary for 27 years at Jefferson East School, Marion High School and Thomas More Prep-Marion High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Tony of the home; two sons, Dennis of Hutchinson and Thomas of Minneapolis, Minn.; two daughters, Janet Gaschler Haas of Miami, Fla., and Joyce Gaschler Knight of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two brothers, John Preiling of Fort Worth, Texas, and Clarence Dreiling of Denver; a sister, Amelia Edwards of Great Bend; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Curtis Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. A VFW Auxiliary service will be at 6:30 p.m. today followed by a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m. at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. John's of Hays Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and nopn to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 20th and Pine, Hays 67601. Salina Journal, 2/3/1997
