Bio

Mrs. Virgil Cumby Anna Bell Fowler was born at Glasgow, Ill., Sept. 11, 1877, and died at her home one and one-half miles southeast of Winchester, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1930, being at the time of her death aged 53 years four months and 10 days. She was the daughter of William and Mary A. Fowler, and united with the Glasgow Baptist church in the year of 1921, under the ministry of Rev. Ernest Daudy. She was united in marriage to Virgil Cumby, Sept. 17, 1896, and to this union were born 10 children, one son dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn her loss, a devoted husband and nine children, namely; Mrs. Frank Brown, Mrs. Ernest Tankersley and Wm. Cumby of Ashland, Ill.; Mrs. Ernest Moore, White Hall; Mrs. Ed Daniels, Hillview; Elmer, Everette, Helen and Mildred at home. She also leaves the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Abbie Smith of Glasgow; Robt. Fowler of Winchester and Wm. Fowler of Virden. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her to that great beyond. She also leaves 11 grandchildren. She was a believer and a follower of the Christian faith; a devoted mother, a loving wife and true friend. She leaves a clean record after a long life, one who has fought a good fight, who has kept the faith, who has finished her course and she leaves in our memory this thought. "Well done thou good and faithful servant.: We have lost our darling mother, She has bid us all adieu, She has gone to live in heaven, And her form is lost to View. Oh that dear one how we loved her, Oh how hard to five her up, But an angel came down for her And removed her from our flock. Funeral services were held at the Glasgow Baptist church Thursday, Jan. 23, 1930, at two o'clock, Rev. Daudy officiating and interment in the Glasgow cemetery. Newspaper unknown, found on Page 37 at the Winchester Public Library.
