Bio

Thomas Mattox, 78, a veteran of the Spanish-American war and a resident of the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Grand Island, passed away Monday evening of a heart ailment. Mr. and Mrs. Mattox resided in Custer county until1931 when they moved to Lincoln, going to Grand Island in 1940 where they have since resided in the Soldiers and Sailors home. For a time they were residents of the Comstock community. Besides his wife, Mr. Mattox is survived by five sons and one daughter. Two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Westbrook of Comstock, Mrs. Fred Niedt of Ansley; and three brothers, Charles Mattox of Sargent, J. W. Mattox of Nampa, Idaho, and H. O. Mattox of Portland, Oregon. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p. m., in Grand Island. ~ The Comstock News (Comstock, Nebraska), Thurs., 12 Dec 1963, pg. 1
