Union Veteran of the Civil War Enlisted on September 14, 1861, age 20, and mustered-in on October 1, 1861, into Company B, 11th Regiment, Iowa Infantry. Enlistment Rank: Private. Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Battle of Shiloh, Second Battle of Corinth, Grant's Central Mississippi Campaign, Siege of Vicksburg, Battle of Atlanta, Sherman's "March to the Sea", and the Campaign of the Carolina's. The Regiment participated in the Grand Review of the Armies on May 24, 1865. Mustered out of service at Louisville, Kentucky on July 15, 1865. Invalid Pension filed on May 22, 1889 (Application No. 695260 and Certificate No. 505101). Widow Pension filed on August 27, 1925 (Certificate No. 967131). Member of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Grubb Post No. 273.
