Bio

Death certificate lists date of death as 13 Nov 1955 while headstone and application for veteran's headstone both list 14 Nov 1955. Death Certificate date should be official date of death, however I am not going to change the date listed on the memorial. The informant for information on the death certificate was Mollie Long Mckee who was the sister of Roy Long. She is also the one who applied for "Uncle"Roy's veteran's headstone. Mollie Long McKee is my grandmother. While Roy Debs Long was not really my uncle, it is what I always called him. He did not like his middle name and so always used only his middle initial. Uncle Roy always had a smile for me, and usually a penny, nickel, or dime in his pocket to give me each time I saw him. Roy D Long married Thelma Welk, but was divorced from her at the time of his death. Roy D Long enlisted in the Army 23 Feb 1944 and was honorably discharged 5 June 1946.
