Services for Carlos Weldon Long, 77, Mabank, were held Tuesday, August 10, at Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel, Van, with Brother Rich Flowers officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mr. Long died August 7, 1999, in an Athens hospital. He was born September 20, 1921, in Van Zandt County. He served in the Army during World War II. He lived in Dallas prior to moving to Mabank. He was a retired paint contractor. He was of Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by son, Dennis Ray Long. Survivors include his wife, Helen Flowers Long, Mabank; son, Larry Long, Dallas; daughters, Brenda Pritchett, Edgewood, Nancy Dennie and Helen Elain Sherin, both of Mabank, Iris Walters, Eustace, and Faith Mullins, Round Rock; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
