Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Wednesday, 9 April 1969 Frank E. Stejskal, 78, a veteran of World War I and a former farmer at Abie, died Tuesday evening in a local hospital. He had been in failing health since last October. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Memorial Chapel at the Soldiers and Sailors Home. Elder A.G. Beierle will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at graveside in the Soldiers and Sailors Home Cemetery. The Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements. Mr. Stejskal was born July 28, 1891 at Abie to Anton and Marie Stejskal. He graduated from high school at Wahoo and continued his education by attending college at Omaha. He was farming near Abie at the outbreak of World War I. He enlisted in the United States Army and served to the end of the conflict, returning to farming upon his honorable discharge. He retired in 1956 and came to the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Grand Island to make his final residence. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mr. Stejskal is survived by his brother, John, of David City; and his sister, Mrs. Mary Fleming of Gregory, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Antone; and three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Hladky, Mrs. Anna Fleming and Mrs. Emma Pospisil.
