TX Death Certificate #44222 states: (1) s/o John Massey born in Tennessee & Nancy Hudlo born in Tennessee (2) OCCUPATION: Farmer (3) INFORMANT: Rufus I. West (4) BURIAL: September 6, 1949 in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Bremond, Texas. OBITUARY: "LAST RITES HELD FOR WILL MASSEY -- Will L. Massey, age 76, died at his home at Mexia, Monday, Sept.5; after an illness of some time. He was born and reared in the Walnut community. He moved to Mexia about 5 or 6 years ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday, 4 p.m. at the Walnut Cemetery after which burial was made. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ida West and Mrs. Florence Evans, both of Mexia, and Mrs. Nettie West os West Texas. Two brothers, Louis Massey of Dallas; and J. O. Massey of Houston." FAMILY NOTE: In the 1880 Marshall Co., TN Federal Census he is listed as Lafayette Massey, age 7, born in Tennessee.
