Birth place is Pearsall, Frio County, Texas. Jack wrote this himself on his Registration card Feb. 16, 1942, Washington Co., OR. Several other mistakes on death certificate, besides birthplace (wife may have miss heard Pearsall). Name of father is wrong, Ellwood was his older brother and last name of mother is Rhode (Annie Leah Rhode). His wife was widowed I believe had a 5 year old and 3 year old to care for with little education so was under plenty of stress as informant for the certificate.. - Contributor: (49668260) ********************************************************************************* Registration Card Feb. 16, 1942 (Men born on or after February 17, 1897 and on or before December 31, 1921) Jack Winton Allen gives his birth place as Pearsall, Frio County, Texas, USA. He lists himself as farming and owning his own business. His death certificate State File No. 115 from the vault in the Oregon State Archives has at least 3 errors, not unexpected from a young mother (she is 11 years younger than Jack) left with 2 little children after only 7 years of marriage. (1) Father is listed as Ellwood Allen who actually was Jack's elder brother. See family in Pearsall Frio Co., TX 1910/1920 & 1930 census, Live Oak Co., TX-brother Will Orr is head of household . (2) Jack's mother's maiden name was Rhode see 1894 Floresville, Wison Co., TX Marriage record; (3) birthplace as noted above is not correct but note "Pearsall" is similar in pronounciation to "Pierce". From 1940 census material it seems Jack and Annie Strunc met in Dallas Co., TX around 1935 and married 14 June 1936 in Dallas Co. (Marriage Record pg. 16, No. 5225) Their children are listed born in Oregon in the Dilley, Washington Co., OR 1940 census, ca. 1938 & 1940. Jack & Annie list being in Dallas in 1935. It seems Annie A. Strunc had grown up in north Texas, Ellis Co. at age 14, and had had little knowledge of Jack's family who lived in south Texas in Frio and Live Oak counties. Jack's father Edmund Lee Allen died in 1937 where much of the family is buried at George West, Live Oak Co., TX. - Contributor: (49668260)
