Bio

Leon, of Vidor, passed away Saturday at his residence. He was active in track and field and basketball in his younger days. He spent two years in the CCC in artillery and infantry. Moving to Vidor in 1942, he met and married the love of his life Mary Jane Wyatt. He worked in the shipyard and oilfields before his employment with Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He was a dedicated and loyal employee for thirty four years. Upon his retirement they made many trips to Branson, Missouri. Then he entered the workforce again and spent sixteen years with Woods Super Market as back door man. He was a 50 year member of the Vidor Masonic Lodge # 1286 and a deacon at Pine Forest Baptist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Sallie Low Broom, wife Mary Jane Wyatt Broom, daughter Jerre Cochran, brothers George E. Broom and John W. Broom. He was survived by a daughter Beverly Hall, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services held July 20, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
