Bio

Fred Reichelt, City Employee, Dies Sunday Fred Reichelt, 36, City Employee, died at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the scene of a grass fire on the railroad tracks. Mr. Reichelt had driven the fire truck to the blaze and after reaching the destination, he slumped over the steering wheel having suffered a heart attack. Attempts were made to revive him, but he was pronounced dead by a local doctor. Justice of the Peace Joe Johnson of Waco ruled the man died of natural causes. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Quilter officiated, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Aderhold Chapel. Mr. Reichelt had worked for the City of West for the past nine years. He recently received a promotion to Assistant Water and Sewage Superintendent. Prior to this, he was employed at the West Cotton Mill. Mr. Reichelt was born in Fayetteville, Texas, having moved to West at an early age. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the West Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Leona Detterman Reichelt; three daughters: Lana Kay, 17, Deborah Lynn, 12, and Carla Jean, 1 1/2 years old, all of West; his mother, Mrs. Charlie Reichelt of West, and his grandmother, Mrs. Annie Sykora also of West. Pallbearers were Leo Miller, Louis Jares Jr., Harvey Tipps, Lloyd Zwernemann, Milton Newmann, and Percy Lee Kasparek. The West News, West, Texas, Friday, August 2, 1963, Vol. 73, No. 14
