Bio

Death of Former Vermillion Girl While visiting relatives in Sioux City, and preparing to attend the wedding of her niece, Miss Lulu Chaussee, in this city, Mrs. U.F. Sargent was taken seriously ill and died at six o'clock last Monday morning at the home of her brother F. E. Washburn. Though a victim of tuberculosis for a number of years, Mrs. Sargent's death was entirely unexpected. The deceased was a daughter of H. C. Washburn, and was born in Vermillion on February 18, 1886. For some time she had resided at Hot Springs, SD, where she was married about a year ago to U. F. Sargent. Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. C. S. Thomas, and interment will take place in Bluff View cemetery. Mae E. was a true and devoted daughter, and though suffering from an incurable ailment the greater part of her life, she bore her burden without complaint. In this hour of their sorrow we join with numerous friends in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved father, sisters and brothers. Because of this death the marriage ceremony which was to have united Henry Walz and Miss Lulu Chaussee on Wednesday was postponed. Vermillion Plain Talk, Vermillion, South Dakota, May 26, 1910
