Son of Miles Price and Emeline Markham OBITUARY THE CHARITON DEMOCRAT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, November 12, 1903 WALTER J. PRICE Mr. Walter J. Price died at the Depot Hotel on Wednesday morning, November 11, 1903, at two o'clock, after lingering in an unconscious condition for twelve days. Mr. Price was the Burlington brakeman who was knocked from the car by a bridge near Lacona on the evening of October 29th. Everything possible was done to save the life of the young man but his injuries proved fatal and he passed away without regaining consciousness. He had been in the employ of the Burlington railroad but a short time and was well-liked by his associates and had made a large number of warm friends, who sincerely mourn his untimely death. The remains were taken to Russell Wednesday noon on No. 6 and largely attended funeral services were held at the Christian church in Russell this afternoon at two o'clock. Walter J. Price, son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Price, was born at Zero, Lucas county, on April 20, 1885. He had resided in that vicinity from childhood until a short time ago when the family moved to Russell. He then came to Chariton and entered the employ of the railway company. He was an exemplary young man, industrious, energetic and conscientious. He leaves his parents, two brothers and one sister, and to them the deepest sympathy of the community is extended in their great bereavement.
