Kathy Newsom (December 6, 1961 - July 4, 2009) Kathy Newsom, 47, of Granger, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on July 4, 2009 at her home. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Wednesday. July 8, 2009 at the church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger. Kathy was born December 6, 1961 to Gaylon and Lorraine (Kubala) Remmert in Taylor. She grew up in and around east Williamson County where she developed her love for animals and nature. Kathy loved horseback riding, barrel racing, and rodeoing. She met and married Shawn Newsom on April 5, 1986 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. She worked in banking and then as an assistant manager in Human Resources for Laboratory Tops in Taylor before devoting herself to her life's passion of being a homemaker and mother. She was active in the lives of her family, supporting her husband's law enforcement career, her son's interests, caring for her horses and her beloved Boston Terriers. She participated with the Granger 4H, Granger Livestock and Booster Club, Blackland Riding Club, Temple Longhorn Riding Club and the Williamson County Sheriff's Posse. She was a member of St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Kathy leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Shawn of Granger; sons, Shane and Dylan of Granger; parents, Gaylon and Lorraine Remmert of Granger; sister, Cindy Remmert of Granger; father-in-law, Jack Newsom of Coupland; brother-in-law; Shannon and wife Michelle of Taylor; sister-in-law, Shelly and husband Dennis Stautz of Thrall; grandparents-in-law, John and Lillie Foerster of Giddings.
