(Published in The Memphis Democrat, Volume LVI, Number 11, Memphis, Hall County, Texas, Thursday Afternoon, August 23, 1945, Page 1) Funeral Services Held at Tell for Mrs. J.A. Francis Funeral services for Mrs. James A. Francis, a resident of Tell for the past 25 years, were held at the Tell Southside Baptist Church Thursday, August 16, 1945 at 4 p.m., conducted by Rev. Horace Hitt of Ropesville, assisted by Rev. Curtis Rogers, local pastor and Rev. Robert Knight of Newlin. Interment was in Tell Cemetery under direction of Estes Funeral Home. Pallbearers were A.H. Jones, O.D. Phillips, H.B. Rodes, J.C. Wyatt, C.E. Seals and Lee Rothwell. In charge of flowers were Mesdames Phillips, Hunter, Seals, Rothwell, Diggs, Shackleford, Henderson, Givens, McSpadden and Fowler. Mrs. Francis was born at Mixon, Texas, Feb. 5, 18871 and passed away at her home Wednesday, August 15, 1945 at 5:25 a.m. Survivors are the husband, James A. Francis; two sons, Roy N. Francis of Wichita Falls and J.E. Francis of Borger; two daughters, Mrs. Perry C. Stroud of Tell and Mrs. B.F. Cook of Quanah; two sisters, Mrs. Geo. H. Lawrence of Dallas and Mrs. Ada Musick of Arp; one brother, Rev. L.A. Willingham of Kilgore, and twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Francis were residents of Newlin during 1919.
