Bio

Dr. Robert Ed Curbello, 84, longtime resident of Texas City, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009, at his residence. Born March 6, 1925, to Robert and Edna Curbello, Bob was the oldest of four children. Bob and Dorothy are survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Penny Curbello of Austin and Beth and Jack Strange of Texas City; grandchildren are Kristi Strange, Jeanne and Travis Sharp, Joshua and Ashley Schouweiler, and Laila and Kari Schouweiler; and two great-grandchildren, Rand and Lily Schouweiler. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Jim Curbello, and wife, Pat Stamps Curbello. Raised in Freeport, Texas, Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II in Korea and the Pacific. Once home, he took his GED, returned to school and graduated from Texas A&M. Dr. Curbello practiced veterinary medicine from 1954 until retirement and remarked that few people could make a living doing something they loved. In his last years, he continued to enjoy the sunrise across the marsh from his home. Source: Brazosport Facts
