Howard Bair Howard Ray Bair, 89, of Nyasa, a retired farmer, died Monday, Oct. 3, 1988, at his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Nyssa Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Bishop J. Burdette Pratt conducting. Burial will follow in the Nyssa Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Nyssa's Lienkaemper Chapel. Howard was born Dec. 10, 1907, the son of Joseph F. and Eliza R. Moss Bair, and was raised in Alpine, Utah. He married Nell Betts Parkin, April 11, 1929, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. The couple moved to Colorado where they lived until 1940 when they returned to Utah. In 1942 the family moved to Nyssa where they built up a dairy on Columbia Avenue. Howard was active in the LDS church, serving in many positions including a full-time church mission to the west central states (1951-53) and bishop of the Nyssa 2nd Ward for seven years (1959-66). He and Nell served as missionaries from 1973 until her death Oct. 18, 1986. He married Sharon Albertson June 9, 1987, in the Boise LDS Temple. Howard, one of 12 children, is survived by his wife, Sharon Albertson Bair of Nyssa; a daughter, Joyce Turner of Greenleaf; two sons, Cecil Bair of Nyssa and Carl Bair of San Diego, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Deronda Lallaten of La Grande, Ore., Laura Murphey of Nyssa and LeeAnn Johnson of Rexburg; four brothers, Elmer Bair of Carbondale, Colo., Harold Bair of Manti, Utah, Golden Bair of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Elwood Bair of Roosevelt, Utah; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
