Bio

Husband of Margaret Kana Edward James Kana, age 64, of Lake Jackson, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007, in Three Rivers, on his family deer lease. Ed was born Oct. 11, 1942, in El Campo, to George and Elizabeth Kana. They soon moved to Palacios where Ed grew up. He was the eldest of eight children. Ed graduated from Palacios High School, in 1961, where he was voted Most Outstanding. He went to Texas Aamp;M where he received his B.A. degree in industrial technology in 1965. He married Margaret Wallin in August of 1966. He then continued his education at Texas Aamp;M. They both graduated in May of 1968 when he received a master's degree in industrial education. Ed started his teaching career at Clute Intermediate School in 1968. After serving in many capacities, he retired in 2001 from Brazosport ISD with 33 years in the educational field. He loved being retired and often wondered how he had found the time to work with all of his many varied interests. Ed was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he served as an extradinary minister. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Kana, and brothers, Dan and Michael Kana. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margaret Kana; sons, Chris and Carl, both of Lake Jackson; one sister, Betty Boyd of Austin; and brothers, Tony Kana, Joe Kana and wife Bobbie, and George Kana Jr., all of Palacios, and Bobby Kana and wife Dena of Sante Fe, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
