Bio

Mary Conklin Dies at Home Mary A. Conklin, 85, died Sunday afternoon at her home in Idaho Falls. She was an early resident of the Rexburg area. She was born July 19, 1871 in England, and 20 years later, came to America, where she lived at Bear Lake. She was married to Thomas Shirley October 29, 1892, in Logan, Utah, where they lived until 1903 when they moved to Rexburg. They farmed for several years in the Rexburg area until coming to Idaho Falls in 1910. She was separated from her husband in 1917 and then later married Harry L. Conklin. He preceded her in death in 1927. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Neva Weakley, Washington DC, Mrs. Lillie Smajstrla, Abbott, Texas; and Mrs. Carrie Edwards, Idaho Falls. Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm in the Williams Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
