WHEELER - Bonita V. Hamon, 79, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Pampa. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Ernie McGaughey, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery in Zybach by Wright Funeral Home. Bonita was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Hemphill County to Avis Markham Parker and George W. Parker. She attended Allison schools and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She married Kenneth R. Hamon on Aug. 23, 1947, in Allison. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2005. Bonita taught Sunday school for a number of years at First United Methodist Church in Wheeler. She also was a licensed cosmetologist. Bonita was an employee of Wheeler Independent School District for 26 years. She loved her family, her job and being active in the community. In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jamie Brandon Hamon; and a great-grandson, Kenneth James Daughtry III. Survivors include a son, Kenneth R. Hamon II and wife Susie of Pampa; a daughter, Alana Hamon-Daughtry of Shamrock; three grandchildren, Kenneth J. Daughtry II and wife Laura of Wheeler, Eric T. Daughtry and wife Valerie of Shamrock and Matthew S. Hamon and wife Dawn of Hutchinson, Kan.; seven great-grandchildren, Keana Bennett and husband Ryan of Dalhart, LaKeisha Applewhite and husband Matthew, Erica Daughtry and Tristan Blanchard, all of Shamrock, Latham Daughtry of Goodwill, Okla., and Delaney Hamon and Dylan Hamon, both of Hutchinson; a great-great-granddaughter, Teagan Applewhite of Shamrock; a sister, Charlene Rainey of Allison; and a host of relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner St., Pampa, TX; Wheeler ISD Library Fund, P.O. Box 1010, Wheeler, TX 79096; or a charity of choice.
