The Custer County Chief 20 Jan 199, Thu. Page 12 MRS. LILLIAN MAE HICKMAN Mrs. Lilian Mae Hickman, wife of Mr. Paul J. Hickman of the New Helena neighborhood, 7 miles east of Anselmo, Nebr. Passed away at her home Saturday morning while her husband was doing up the chores on the farm. She had gone about her household duties in the morning and had reclined to ease a pain she thought of minor consequence, intending to return to the kitchen duties in a few moments. She had been in Broken Bow with her husband the day before and apparently was in her general state of health, cheerful and active. Lillian Mae Roseberry was born October 22, 1900, at Hebron, Nebraska to Mr. and Mrs. Charles G Roseberry. The family moved to Grand Island, where she attended the public schools. They moved to Broken Bow, where in 1919 she worked as bookkeeper for the Custer Electric Company. Later she returned to Grand Island where she worked in the District Accountants office. She married Paul J. Hickman February 20, 1923, at Lexington, Nebr. To this union were born Doris Mae, Eugene L. Glenna Mary and Lynn Byron, the later named child dying in infancy. The Hickman family lived at Litchfield for 10 years, where Mrs. Mrs. Hickman held active membership in the Methodist church. The family moved to Custer county in 1933 where they engaged in farming and ranching activities. They spent a period of four years, 1940-1944, in the Sargent community, and recent years at their present residence east of Anselmo. Mrs. Hickman was active in the past in Sunday School and church work having taught for several years in the Sunday school of the Methodist church in Broken Bow. She like wise was very active in the Red Cross, community and neighborhood activities. She leaves to mourn her sudden and unexpected passing, her husband, Paul, her children, Mrs. Doris Mae Gill of Sargent, Eugene l.
