HOISINGTON — Oswald "Ossie" Schremmer, 92, died June 2 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born April 3, 1917, at Redwing, the son of Alois Schremmer, Sr., and Caroline (Frenzel) Schremmer. He married Hazel T. Driscoll on July 21, 1941, at Dubuque. She survives. He was an oilfield pumper for Hinkle Oil Co., retiring in 1993 after 43 years of service. He was a resident of Hoisington since 1955, moving from Susank. A World War II veteran, he served in the 8th Air Force Division in England from 1942 to 1945. Mr. Schremmer was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a life member of VFW Post No. 7428 and a member of American Legion Post No. 286, all of Hoisington. He enjoyed baseball, playing horseshoes and cards, and playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Survivors, in addition to his wife, of the home, include a son, Virgil Schremmer and his wife, Pat, of Hutchinson; two daughters, Miriam Wilborn and her husband, Keith, and Marcia Schremmer, all of Hoisington; a brother, John Schremmer of Gorham; four grandchildren, Brian Wilborn and wife Cindy, Krista Brewer and husband Ben, Kari Bloomer and husband Chad and Lisa Pickering and husband Darrin; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madison and Nolan Wilborn, Avery and Livvy Brewer, Chandler, Chase and Boston Bloomer, Tyler and Trammer McGuire and Taylor Pickering. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alois Schremmer, Jr., and Albert Schremmer, two sisters, Sister Miriam (Mary) Schremmer and Loretta "Sis" Maxiner, and a grandson, Michael Shawn Schremmer. A special vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Father Bob Schremmer and Father Dwight Birket celebrants. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Hoisington, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post No. 7428 and American Legion Post No. 286.
