Services for Roy A. Bellah, 76, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Michael Passmore officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. He died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at McKenna Memorial Hospital in New Braunfels. He was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Ballinger. He had been a resident of Lubbock since 1944. He married Faye Howard on Jan. 15, 1944, in Santa Ana, Calif. She died Nov. 24, 1996. He attended school in Corpus Christi and Draughon's Business College in Lubbock. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation with a Bronze Star. He served in the South Pacific Theater and was awarded four Bronze Stars. He was with the Philippines Liberation Forces and awarded a Bronze Star. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Unit Citation and served in the China-Burma Theater. He was an employee of the Veteran's Administration for 38 years and worked part time for Zales and North Star Jewelers. Survivors include a son, Dan of New Braunfels; a daughter, Cynthia Renee Venable of Tulia; a brother, Charlie L. of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Virgie Hughey of Seguin and Marie Cook of Tacoma, Wash; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
