Bio

L.D. (Bud) Harris, age 87, passed away Thursday night at the Ennis Care Canter. Bud was born February 16, 1922 in Ennis to W.E. and Georgie (Ewing) Harris and was raised in Ennis. On September 5, 1948 he married Georgia Haskovec of Ennis where they made their home. Bud served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. After his military service he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for ten years and then for Braniff International Airlines for thirty years as a machinist. Bud was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis and the SPJST. He is survived by his wife Georgia Harris of Ennis; one son, Les Harris, and his wife Karen, of Ennis; one sister, Peggy Helms, of Ennis; two grandchildren: Glenn Harris, of Austin, and Rachel Harris, of Abilene. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Billy David Harris; four sisters: Shirley Sharp, Pauline Henderson, Mildred McGowan and Marie Day, and one brother: Ray Gene Harris. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Ennis Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Chapel with Rev. Craig Krueger, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis as the officiating minister. Interment will be at Myrtle Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pall Bearers will be: Randy Jones, Randy Wiemelt, Tommy Weatherly, Les Gerron, Tim Stewart and Johnny Cruz.
