Vlasta L. Sindelar, 89, of Howells died Monday, June 1, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Clarkson. She was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Omaha to Karel and Marie (Jukl) Dvorak. After graduating from grade school, she worked in Omaha until her marriage to Mike F. Sindelar Jr. on Sept. 26, 1939, in Heun. After marriage, she worked hand-in-hand with her husband on the family farm 4 1/2 miles northwest of Howells for 37 years until 1976. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Howells, was a member of the Altar Society and rarely missed working for a funeral dinner for over 25 years. At the present time, both Vlasta and her husband were residents of Golden Living Center in Clarkson. They celebrated their 69th anniversary last year.
