John Daniel Chaney was born and reared in Alba, Wood County, Texas, the third child and only son born to Robert Hiram "Bob" Chaney, 1875-1948 (son of John Chaney and Mary Allen Chaney of Texas) and Mary Caroline "Callie" Slater Chaney, 1889-1962 (daughter of Daniel B. Slater and Nannie E. Bell Slater.) Among his siblings were two brothers born of the his father's first marriage and two sisters born of his mother's first marriage. Living Chaney, b: 31 January 31, 1950 3. George Wesley Chaney b: 15 August 15, 1951 d: October 2, 1974 4. Living Chaney, b: October 2, 1957 Professionally, John was a long-distance truck driver. He died in a vehicular accident on March 30, 1971 in Dallas, Texas and was interred in the Golden Cemetery, Golden, Wood County, Texas.
