Leta Dibel, of Creston died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at her home. Leta Jeanene Dibel was born March 1, 1931 in Broadwater, Neb. to Gladys Irene (Hunt) Pike and George Pike. She graduated from high school in Bridgeport, Neb. in 1948. On August 14, 1948 she was united in marriage to Franklin Gillespie in Bridgeport, Neb. They moved to Dalton, where they farmed and Leta worked for the Dalton Farmers Coop. Leta moved to Creston in 1967, where she worked for Creston Farmers Co-op. She also owned and operated Furniture Restoration and Mi Ladies Fashions until she retired in Creston. After Frank's death, Leta was united in marriage to Earl R. Dibel on January 6, 1979 in Creston. Leta was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dalton, Neb. and in Creston, and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia (husband Roger) Tallmon of Afton; two sons, Stephen (wife Judy) Gillespie of Kansas City, Mo. and James (wife Terri) Gillispie of Earlham; one step-son, Robert (wife Linda) Dibel of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one step-daughter, Linda (husband Rodney) Goodall of Cumming, Georgia; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Gillispie and second husband, Earl Dibel and her sister, Marjorie Chikos.
