Bio
Douglas Gene Barham of Victoria, formerly of Tahoka, devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend to all that knew him departed this life on May 24, 2009 at the age of 47 years. He was born on April 3, 1962 in Brownfield to Bill and Catherine Barham. While Doug attended high school in Tahoka, he was active in the FFA and all sports, making All District in football in 1979. He graduated in 1980. Doug attended Texas Tech and San Angelo State University after graduation, he began farming at West Point in 1984, and later married Maritia K. Fowlkes on November 1, 1986. In 2006, he and his family moved from Tahoka to Victoria where he worked in the sales and construction industry and attended the Parkway Baptist Church. Doug was a great Dad and loved coaching his children with their sports and other activities. He was also a great friend to everyone, and never met anyone that he did not like. He will be truly missed by those that knew him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Maritia; daughter, Maddie Barham; two sons, Garrett and Carson Barham; his mother, Catherine; brother, Frank Barham of Lubbock; and sister, Cynthia Steele of Lubbock. He is preceded in death by his father, Bill Barham A formal visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 at White Funeral Home in Tahoka. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Tahoka with Rev. Richard Harbison. Interment is to follow at Nevels Memorial Park in Tahoka.
