Bio
Services for Billy Newton Barham, 74, of Tahoka will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Becknal officiating. Burial will be in Nevels Cemetery under direction of White Funeral Home. He died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999. He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Lynn County. He graduated from Tahoka High School and was a lifelong resident of Lynn County. He married Catherine Thomason on Dec. 13, 1960, in Wellman. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a past master of the Tahoka Lodge. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Frank of Lubbock and Doug of Tahoka; a daughter, Cynthia Steele of Lubbock; a brother, Newt of Del Rio; two sisters, Jo Curry of Hale Center and Jean Blackard of Gallup, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
