The Daily Herald, Provo, Utah, 05 Mar 1984 Myron W. "Mike" Jense, 70, of Provo, died Saturday, March 3, 1984, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of an extended illness. He was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Pleasant Grove, to Thomas Nels and Olive Adamson Jense. He married Leone Burch, April 11, 1926, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received his education in Pleasant Grove schools and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He attended Brigham Young University and Utah State University in Logan. He was one of the founders of Central Utah Vocational School and taught aviation. He started Central Utah Aviation Service with Eddie Por and Keith H. Jacobs. He was still operating CUA with his son Thomas Jense at the time of his death. He has served on the Utah State Aeronautics Board and served as chairman in 1975. He began flying in 1932 and trained military pilots at Hill Air Force Base during World War II. He has flown 22,500 hours. He was a member of line Federal Aviation Administration Flight Safety Council and was an accident investigator and flight examiner. He was honored for 40 years of accident free flying. He was known as "Mr. Provo Aviation" and the road leading to the airport is named Mike Jense Parkway. He has trained ROTC Cadets at BYU. He was a member of the LDS Church, Provo 21st Ward. Survivors include his wife of Provo; one son and two daughters: Thomas M. Jense and Mrs. Kay W. (Marilyn) Laursen, both of Provo; Mrs. David H. (Nancy) Spencer of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother: Wesley Jense of Pleasant Grove. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Provo 21st LDS Ward Church, 1260 W. 1150 N., Provo. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center, Provo, Monday, 6-8 p.m., or at the church Tuesday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
