Bio

Willie Cloud Geer, 95, of Rule, died Monday at her home. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Rule with the Reverend J. R. Williams, Dr. Troy Culpepper, and John Greeson officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Geer was born in September of 1901 on the family farm, which her father later sold to become the townsite of Rule. She was a life long resident of Rule, excluding a 4 year period of which she lived in Abilene. She married John Elbert Geer in June of 1921 in Rule. She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College and taught public school for 2 years, she also taught Kindergarten in her home for 3 years. She was a member of the Philadelphian Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was named Rule Citizen of the Year in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 70 years, and was associational Woman's Missionary Union president for nine years. She is survived by her son, Jon Roger Geer and his wife Patsy of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her daughter Elizabeth Spain and her husband Sidney of Tyler; 3 grandchildren, Stephen Spain of Midland, Roger Spain of Lufkin, and Carolyn Johns and her husband Andy of Mansfield: 1 great-grandchild, Joseph Johns of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Edward J. Cloud, Nora Cloud Leon, Henry J. Cloud, Joe W. Cloud, and Ruth Cloud Ingram. Pallbearers for the service are Pete Klttley, Wallace Allison. Kenny Tanner, Jerry Saffel, L. W. Jones Jr., A.D. May, Howard Brass, and Malcolm Herttenberger. ln lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the: First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 146, Rule. Texas 79547, the Philadelphian Club, Rule. Texas 79547, or to the donars favorite charity.
