WORLD WAR II VETERAN Albert was born on 28 March 1921 in Gadsen, Alabama. He was the son of George Bud Oliver and Lula (Ballenger) Dameron. He enlisted in the United States Navy on 13 December 1939. He served on various commands through out his enlistment. From 31 March 1940 he served on the USS Saratoga (CV3), until 19 September 1944. Then he was assigned to ATR 37 (Auxilary Tug Rescue) from 16 February 1945 until 15 February 1945. On 16 February 1945 he reported for duty onboard USS Kalmia (ATO33), until 20 August 1947. His last assignment was onboard the USS General H.W.Butner (AP113) from 21 August 1947 until 13 October 1947. On 14 October 1947 he was Honorably discharged from active duty as a Water Tender First Class (WT1). He was married to a Virginia Dameron. On 9 February 1989 Albert passed away, and is buried in the Washington Veterans Home Cemetery at Retsil, Washington.
