Bio

[Obituary] Avoca (Special)—Funeral services for Mrs. Ella P. Gollner were held Wednesday afternoon, April 1 at First Lutheran Church. Avoca with Rev. Orville Reeg officiating. Mrs. Gollner died Sunday, March 30, in an Omaha hospital. She had been ill since December of last year. Daughter of Gustav and Tess Witzke, she was born Dec. 12, 1888, at Hammond, Minn. She married William Martin Gollner on June 10, 1911, at Hammond. Soon after their marriage they moved to Avoca. Shortly after that her father died and she and her husband took in her mother and three sisters and brothers. They owned and operated a meat market and a liquor store for many years. After death of her husband Nov. 14, 1954, Mrs. Gollner took over operation of the store until about 10 years ago when health forced her to retire. After selling her home she stayed with her sister, Mrs. M. C. Pittman, and family until late in 1969 when she went to Omaha to make her home with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Alewine [sic] and family. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Surviving are a son, Fred of Omaha; daughter, Mrs. Joe (Dorothy) Alewine, Omaha; brother, G.A. Witzke, Brighton, Colo.; sisters.,Mrs. Anna Hawley, Imperial, Mrs. Ida Ranfrans [sic], Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Emma Nutzman, Syracuse, and Mrs. Esther Pittman, Avoca; daughterinlaw, Mrs. Mary Lee Gollner, Omaha. She was preceded by her husband, a son, Ernest; brother, Charles; two sisters, Olga and Laura. Burial was in the Avoca cemetery. Pallbearers were Oscar Zimmerer, Bob Hallstrom, Hy. D. Kirchhoff, Joe Kover, John Lingle Sr. and Henry Dodenhoff.
