Thomas was born to William Alexander and Mary Moir Morrison Bigham on January 20, 1897 in Big Springs, Nebraska. He is the second of six children. Thomas married Grace Oniel Scott on May 18, 1921 in Basin, Wyoming. Tom and Grace had two children; Arvid Lynn and joyce L. Bigham.
