The funeral for Katharyn Lovell Arnold Adams, 91, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home with Ray Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. Mrs. Adams died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at home. Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Arnold Hewitt of Athens; son, Max Arnold and wife Barbara of Athens; sisters, Odelene Lovell Barron and husband Winfred, Delayne Lovell Ham and husband Tommy, all of Athens; grandchildren, Katharyn Privett-Duren, Christopher Smith, Michelle Monk, Kari Smith, Elizabeth Imms and Anne Marie Haddock; great-grandchildren, Christian Shelton, Zack Privett, Jacob Privett, Timothy Smith, Margaret Smith, Lillian Smith, Jake Monk and Max Haddock. Katharyn Arnold Adams was born February 3, 1918 in Limestone County to Thomas Odell Lovell and Lena Margaret Hadden Lovell. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and a friend to all. She was the first woman mail carrier in Athens. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husbands, Elbert Thomas Arnold and Grady Adams; parents, Odell Lovell and Margaret Lovell; brothers, Bennie Lovell, Billy Lovell, Clayton Lovell; and son-in-law, Brian Hewitt.
