BRAINARD – Arthur Kudlacek, 96, of Brainard, died April 22 at David Place in David City. Kudlacek was born on Dec. 18, 1912, to Fred and Josephine (Coufal) Kudlacek in rural Garrison. He married Adeline Svoboda on Nov. 15, 1937 at Holy Trinity Church in Brainard. He lived and farmed in the Brainard area his entire life. He was a champion Trap Shooter, brining home many trophies and prizes. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Center Township Board, and the Election Board. His parents and his wife preceded him in death. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Loran and Marlene Kudlacek of David City; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Herman Laurent of Fayetteville, Ark., and Beverly and Ronald Machacek of Weston; brother, William Kudlacek of Sutton, Alaska; sister, Celestine Svoboda of David City; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 27 at St. Mary's Church in David City. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Brainard.
