Daughter of Joseph and Albina Urban Holubec, Wife of Edward Joseph Kudlacek, married Oct 10, 1933 ELLA "MAMO" ALBINA KUDLACEK BALLINGER - Ella "Mamo' Albina Kudlacek, 91, of Ballinger peacefully passed away on Friday morning, Jan. 28, 2005, in a San Angelo hospital. Ella, the oldest of eight children, was born in Rowena on July 29, 1913, to Joseph and Albina Urban Holubec. She married Edward Joseph Kudlacek on Oct. 10, 1933, in Ballinger. They lived in Rowena before moving to Ballinger in 1952. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1973. Ella rode horseback to attend Lowake School and later Groenwald School. She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1930 and attended business school in San Angelo. She was well known for her famous kolaches, homemade breads and meringue pies, loved sewing for her daughters and granddaughters, and loved to fish and do yard work. She worked for Camp's Ballinger Florist and then Ballinger Florist for 40 years prior to her retirement. The last four years she has enjoyed living at Runnels County Rehab and Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Alfons, Arnold, Edward and Pete; and sister Julie Smetana. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Hoffman and husband Rudy, and Carol Stokes and Tom Rheder, all of Ballinger; grandchildren, Lisa Paul and husband Matthew of Austin, Laurie Hodges and husband Paul of Buda, Greg Hoffman and wife Jeannie of Flower Mound, and Cassie Holcomb and husband Kurt of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Robyn Tomek, Sam Hodges, Erica Hoffman, Andrew Hoffman, Hannah Holcomb, Jessica Lee and Heather Holcomb; brothers, Julius Holubec and wife Dorothy, and Melton Holubec and wife Beverly; sisters-in-law, Julie Lisso, Gertrude Holubec and Irene Holubec; along with nieces and nephews; special friends, Nancy and Dwayne Wiese; and loving friends at Runnels County Rehab. Visitation for family and friends will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, in Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jon Mark Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rowena.
